Police Reassign Case of Lawmaker Park Wan-joo's 'Sexual Misconduct Allegations' to Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency
[Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Cho] The police investigation into Assemblyman Park Wanju, who was expelled from the Democratic Party of Korea over allegations of sexual misconduct, will be conducted by the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency.
The Women and Juvenile Crime Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced on the 19th that it has taken over the investigation of Assemblyman Park's case from the Yeongdeungpo Police Station. Earlier, the victim in Park's case had filed a complaint with the Women and Juvenile Division of the Yeongdeungpo Police Station on the 16th. The police reportedly reassigned the case to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency considering the seriousness of the matter.

The complaint filed by the victim with the police reportedly includes charges such as forcible molestation using authority in the course of duty, abuse of power, and defamation by spreading false information. After reviewing the complaint, the police plan to summon the complainant to confirm the purpose of the complaint and the facts. A summons and interrogation of Assemblyman Park are expected to follow.
