On this day, Won Daeyeon, the standing representative, criticized, “Candidate Park Jong-hoon has injected the left-leaning political agenda of the Korean Teachers and Education Workers Union (KTU) into students over the past eight years.”
He claimed, “After the enactment of the Gyeongnam Student Human Rights Ordinance was scrapped due to strong opposition from residents, Park arbitrarily established the Gyeongnam Education Human Rights Management Center and injected the contents of the human rights ordinance into school education.”
He explained that recommending each school to establish school regulations similar to the contents of the Gyeongnam Student Human Rights Ordinance is an example of this.
He also added that ordinances promoting student autonomy and participation, democratic citizenship education, and history education activation?derived from the Gyeongnam Student Human Rights Ordinance or allowing external organizations to enter schools and conduct biased education?were proposed.
Representative Won raised his voice, saying, “Actions that weaken teachers at school sites, reduce the inherent authority of principals, vice principals, and parent operation committees, and infringe on the autonomy of individual schools must be stopped immediately.”
He said, “Candidate Park has also disrupted order within educational public officials by implementing an internal principal recruitment system and converting irregular workers under the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) to regular positions. Recruitment and promotion of educational public officials, which should be conducted based on fairness, common sense, order, and law, must not become a target of manipulation by specific forces like the KCTU.”
He emphasized, “We joyfully support candidate Kim Sang-gwon, who will correct biased education and instill character, competence, dreams, and hope in Gyeongnam’s students.”
