For Early Construction of Gadeokdo New Airport... Busan City Holds 'Gadeokdo New Airport Technical Committee General Meeting'
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Busan City will hold the ‘Gadeokdo New Airport Technical Committee General Meeting’ on the 17th at the first-floor conference room of City Hall.
The meeting was organized to share the preliminary feasibility results from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and to discuss future tasks such as early construction and securing competitiveness as a logistics airport.
This meeting is the first since the Gadeokdo New Airport construction project was confirmed as a national policy project following ▲completion of the preliminary feasibility study on April 18 ▲approval at the Cabinet meeting on the 26th ▲and exemption from the Ministry of Economy and Finance’s preliminary feasibility study on the 29th, and it is expected to lay the groundwork for technical support for the early construction of Gadeok New Airport.
The city plans to closely examine the preliminary feasibility results with experts and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport during the meeting to derive improvement tasks and create optimal improvement plans through sector-specific technical committees, which will be reflected in the future basic plan.
They also plan to focus their capabilities on technical reviews necessary for shortening preliminary procedures and construction periods, including ▲concurrent design and construction ▲shortening blasting periods ▲external import of reclamation materials ▲overlapping major processes ▲and introduction of the latest construction methods.
Since its launch in March last year, the Technical Committee has been composed of 50 members across six fields: ▲facilities and operations ▲logistics and demand ▲noise and environment ▲aviation and maritime safety ▲construction and ground ▲urban and transportation. It has also responded alongside Busan City to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s preliminary feasibility review service.
Under the goal of constructing a southern gateway airport, the committee achieved results by reflecting professional technical reviews on a 3,500m runway and 24-hour operation?features that were not included in the Gimhae New Airport basic plan?in the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s preliminary feasibility results.
