Candidate Yoon Byung-tae: "Incompetence and Corruption Are Rotten Water That Must Be Washed Away by a New Wave"
Announcement of 'Joint Pledges' and Declaration of 'Clean Election'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] On the morning of the 16th, Yoon Byeongtae, the Democratic Party candidate for mayor of Naju, along with 20 Naju candidates, held a press conference at Yoon Byeongtae’s campaign office, appealing to the citizens to give the capable Democratic Party candidates a chance to take responsibility and change Naju.
Yoon Byeongtae, candidate for mayor of Naju, stated, “This election is to judge the incompetent and corrupt administration of the past eight years and to elect a capable local leader who will lead Naju’s leap forward,” adding, “The claim by independent candidate Kang In-gyu, who lost due to an unfair primary and is raising a fake democratic judgment theory, is groundless.”
He continued that he has sufficient capabilities, including experience and connections necessary to lead Naju’s development, having worked at the Ministry of Strategy and Finance, the Blue House, and as the Deputy Governor for Political Affairs of Jeollanam-do. He also asked for support for all candidates, including Lee Jae-tae and Kim Ho-jin, candidates for the provincial assembly, who possess impeccable and excellent qualities.
He proposed that independent candidate Kang In-gyu hold a conclusive debate on Naju’s current issues and development strategies as soon as possible so that citizens can accurately judge who is the most suitable candidate to lead Naju.
Lee Jae-tae, candidate for Jeollanam-do Provincial Assembly, who announced joint pledges, said, “The SRF issue will be resolved by converting it into an eco-friendly power plant in the process of realizing a carbon-neutral city. Public transportation will be made more convenient through route reorganization based on transportation demand, operation of small and medium-sized village buses, and expansion of village taxi service areas.”
He also announced plans to form a special local government consisting of Jeollanam-do, Gwangju, and the cities, counties, and autonomous districts in the Yeongsan River basin to create the “Yeongsan River 300-ri Premium Bicycle Path.”
Choi Jeong-gi, candidate for city council, reported that there have been continuous reports that independent candidates, including Kang In-gyu, are conducting money and government-influenced elections, and asked for citizens’ vigilance.
Meanwhile, on this day, the Democratic Party candidates for Naju pledged to thoroughly guard against unfair practices such as providing money or entertainment regardless of difficulties and to break the chain of corruption by practicing a fair and clean election.
