According to the Gyeongnam Fire Headquarters and the National Fire Agency, at 9 a.m. that day, a report was received that a helicopter had crashed on Seonjasan Mountain in Dongsang-ri, Geoje-myeon. In response, the Central 119 Rescue Team along with eight rescue helicopters from Busan, Ulsan, and other locations, and 24 rescue personnel were urgently dispatched.
The crashed helicopter is known to be HL9490, belonging to the cargo transport company Air Palace, and it is estimated that three people were on board.

The helicopter appears to have crashed while transporting materials for forest trail construction. The Fire Headquarters stated that the cause of the accident is currently unknown.
