US Defense Secretary Urges Ceasefire to Russia... First Call with Russian Defense Minister Since Ukraine War

According to the U.S. Department of Defense, Secretary Austin conveyed this position during a call with Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu on the 13th (local time).
This is the first call between the two ministers since Russia's invasion of Ukraine on February 24. The last call was on February 18, before the outbreak of the war. At that time, Secretary Austin urged the easing of tensions near the Ukrainian border, the withdrawal of Russian troops, and a diplomatic solution.
