Teacher's Day? Our University Also Has 'Honorary Professor's Day'... Gyeongsang National University, 14th 'Honorary Professor's Day'
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Gyeongsang National University will hold the 14th 'Honorary Professors' Day' event on the 13th at 11 a.m. in the multipurpose hall on the 3rd floor of the GNU Convention Center at the Gajwa Campus.
About 200 people are expected to attend the event, including honorary professors, the president, key university headquarters officials, deans of colleges, the chairperson of the faculty council, the chairperson of the staff council, and the president of the alumni association.
Gyeongsang National University established Honorary Professors' Day in 2008, the 60th anniversary of the founding of the former Gyeongsang National University, becoming the first university nationwide to do so. Honorary Professors' Day is an event to honor the contributions of honorary professors who have devoted their lives to the development of the university and the nurturing of future generations, and to provide a venue for harmony.
In 2020 and 2022, the event was not held due to COVID-19 and was replaced by sending university souvenirs. Therefore, this year marks the first official event since the 2021 integration of Gyeongsang National University where honorary professors from the former Gyeongsang National University and the former Gyeongnam National University of Science and Technology will attend together. The number of honorary professors eligible to attend is 456.

President Kwon Soon-ki said, "The Honorary Professors' Day event is held to invite retired professors who served at the university to showcase the university's development and to ask for their continued interest." He added, "Especially after the launch of Gyeongsang National University, this will be an opportunity for honorary professors from both universities to openly discuss the future of the university and the region in one place."
