Oh Ha-geun, Suncheon Mayor Candidate, Officially Registers as Candidate with Election Commission
"Prevent Divisive Politics, Now Time to Achieve Unified Politics"
"Goal to Complete a Prosperous and Happy Suncheon for Citizens"
[Suncheon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Oh Ha-geun, candidate for Suncheon mayor, announced on the 12th that he has officially registered as the Democratic Party candidate with the Suncheon City Election Commission.
Oh stated his candidacy by saying, "I have come forward to propose politics of future harmony and integration, leaving behind the politics of division and conflict in the past."
He continued, "It is well known that the political situation in Suncheon over the past decade has repeatedly involved extreme confrontations, with politicians and ordinary citizens alike caught in numerous conflicts and disputes," emphasizing the importance of harmony.
Oh also asserted, "Suncheon's past political scene has experienced serious crises, with ordinary citizens swept up in conflicts so embarrassing to look back on," adding, "The old-fashioned divisive politics, despicable manipulative politics, and clique-based factionalism must now come to an end."
The candidate stressed that this election will be a critical turning point deciding whether to return to the past ten years of conflict and division or move forward toward a future of integration and harmony, adding, "I will also break the vicious cycle of political division and confrontation that harms the citizens."
Although there was a time when distrust toward the political sphere was widespread due to conflicts between some former mayors and members of the National Assembly, he expressed the view that the mayor and the National Assembly member are like interlocking gears that must work together.
He emphasized that the harmony between the two is absolutely essential during this critical period when the Democratic Party has become the opposition.
