The event was attended by Lee Yong-seop, Mayor of Gwangju and Chairman of the Organizing Committee; Jang Young-sul, Vice President of the Korea Archery Association; Kim Kwang-ah, President of the Gwangju Archery Association; and Kim Sung-hoon, Head Coach of the South Korean National Archery Team, where they introduced the upcoming tournament schedule and other details.
The Archery World Cup will be held over six days from the 17th to the 22nd, with 381 participants from 38 countries (270 athletes and 111 officials) competing fiercely.
The preliminary and main rounds (17th?20th) will take place at the Gwangju International Archery Field, and the finals (21st?22nd) will be held at Gwangju Women's University, which has produced world-class archers.
South Korea will be represented by a total of 16 players, including 2020 Tokyo Olympic stars An San and Kim Je-deok, raising expectations for the tournament's success.
Mobile tickets for the finals (a total of 2,000 tickets) can be reserved on the Gwangju City Hall website, and currently, all tickets for the recurve team and individual events (1,000 tickets) are sold out.
Mayor Lee emphasized at the event, "The last international competition held before COVID-19 was the World Swimming Championships. The fact that the first international competition held since then is the Gwangju Archery World Cup means that Gwangju is a very fortunate city, and we will strive to achieve good results."
Coach Kim stated, "All the athletes are in good condition. Including An San, all 16 players are preparing well even at this moment for this World Cup. Our ultimate goal is to achieve results proportional to our efforts."
