Popularization of Traveling with Pets... Air Busan Holds Event for Passengers Traveling with Pets
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Air Busan analyzed its domestic pet passenger records from last year and found that the most pets boarded on the Jeju route, indicating that traveling with pets is becoming popular.
According to Air Busan, the total number of pets transported last year was 11,519, with the highest numbers on the routes Busan-Jeju 4,285, Gimpo-Jeju 3,740, and Busan-Gimpo 2,193.
The Jeju route accounted for 70% of the total transport volume, which Air Busan interprets as a sign that traveling with pets is gradually becoming mainstream.
Considering that the total number of flights on the Busan-Jeju route last year was 3,622, at least one pet boarded per flight to Jeju on average.
An Air Busan official said, “The spread of pet companionship culture and the increase in pet-friendly restaurants and accommodations in Jeju Island seem to have influenced the rise in transport volume.”
Riding the wave of this pet-friendly travel trend, Air Busan has extended its pet travel kit giveaway event, which started in April, from the 8th of this month until the end of the month.
The event, held in collaboration with the pet food brand ‘Weltz,’ offers a ‘Pet Travel Kit’ consisting of ▲pet food and snacks ▲dog nose work toys ▲Weltz product discount coupons to passengers traveling with pets on a first-come, first-served basis.
The kits can be picked up at Air Busan check-in counters at Gimhae, Gimpo, Jeju, and Ulsan airports.
An Instagram photo event sharing memories with pets is also underway.
To participate, follow Air Busan’s official Instagram account and upload a photo taken with your pet along with specific hashtags.
Participants will be entered into a draw to win free domestic pet flight tickets and travel kits.
