Naju-si Hosts 'Sound of Music' Performance at Outdoor Theater
[Naju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Naju City in Jeollanam-do announced on the 10th that it will hold the ‘Sound of Music’ performance over two days on May 13-14, Family Month, to wish for citizens' cultural enjoyment and family happiness.
The performance on the 13th will be held at 7 p.m. at Daehosu Waterfront Park, and on the 14th at 5 p.m. at Bitgaram Lake Park outdoor performance hall.
The globally beloved musical work ‘Sound of Music’ is based on the true story of the Austrian ‘von Trapp Family Singers,’ who had to leave their homeland to escape Nazi rule during World War II in 1938.
The story follows Maria, a novice nun who loves nature and singing, as she stays as a temporary tutor at the home of retired naval officer Colonel von Trapp, teaching the children how to sing and enjoy life together while growing alongside them.
This performance will minimize the boundary between the stage and the audience without any attendance restrictions following the lifting of social distancing measures, and will include performance explanations so that all family members can enjoy it together.
Under the direction of Artistic Director Go Seok-woo, the beautiful harmony of 30 boy and girl choir members will fill the outdoor performance venue.
A city official said, “We hope that the city’s boy and girl choir members, who deliver cultural happiness with clear and pure choral harmony, will comfort the minds and bodies of citizens exhausted by COVID-19 through this performance.”
