Confirmed Election Result: Seo Myeong-ok, Former Director, Elected as People Power Party Candidate for Seoul Gangnam-gu Mayor, Defeating Former Lawmaker Lee Eun-jae
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] It has been reported that Seo Myeong-ok, former director of the Gangnam-gu Health Center, has been confirmed as the People Power Party's candidate for Gangnam-gu District Mayor in Seoul.
On the 9th, the People Power Party conducted a 100% responsible party member ARS opinion poll targeting two candidates: Seo Myeong-ok and former lawmaker Lee Eun-jae.
The People Power Party is scheduled to finalize the candidate through the Supreme Council meeting on the afternoon of the 10th.
Candidate Seo graduated from Kyungpook National University School of Medicine and worked as the director of the Gangnam-gu Health Center for over 14 years, making her well acquainted with the circumstances of Gangnam-gu. In particular, during the MERS outbreak, Director Seo was praised for her effective response, leading to successful quarantine measures in Gangnam-gu.
Candidate Seo launched her campaign with the catchphrase "Gangnam-gu's Family Doctor," garnering support from preliminary candidate Lee Seok-ju and others.
If Seo is confirmed as the People Power Party's candidate for Gangnam-gu District Mayor, she is expected to face off against the current mayor, Jeong Soon-gyun of the Democratic Party, in the general election.
