Gyeonggi-do Provides 'Safety Management Training' for Water Leisure Businesses and Workers
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province will conduct safety management training for inland water leisure business operators and workers from the 10th to the 25th of this month.
The province announced on the 8th that this training was prepared ahead of the peak season joint inspection of inland water bodies scheduled for next month. Earlier in February, the province established the "Inland Water Leisure Safety Management Plan."
The training will be held at Gapyeong County Office and Gimpo City Hall with the cooperation of related organizations such as the Incheon and Pyeongtaek Regional Maritime Police Stations, Korea Maritime Transportation Safety Authority, and the fire stations of Gapyeong, Yeoju, Gimpo, and Namyangju.
The main training topics include ▲Water Leisure Safety Laws ▲Preparation and key points for regular inspections of powered water leisure equipment ▲Response to water accidents and first aid ▲Hazardous materials management methods.
The province expects this training to help enhance the ability of water leisure business operators and workers to respond to emergencies by utilizing lifesaving equipment and to prevent accidents through prior safety inspections of powered water leisure equipment.
A provincial official explained, "As the number of people engaging in water leisure activities is expected to increase significantly, we are conducting preemptive training for those involved in water leisure."
