[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Seok-jin, Legal Affairs Specialist] The High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Division (HCID), which has been investigating the 'accusation manipulation' scandal, indicted Prosecutor Son Jun-seong (Human Rights Protection Officer at Daegu High Prosecutors' Office) on the 4th without detention on four charges: violation of the Public Official Election Act, unauthorized disclosure of official secrets, violation of the Personal Information Protection Act, and violation of the Electronic Criminal Procedure Act. The charge of abuse of authority against Prosecutor Son was dismissed.

The HCID dismissed the abuse of authority charge against Kim Woong of the People Power Party, and transferred the charge of violation of the Public Official Election Act, which he allegedly conspired with Prosecutor Son on, to the prosecution as it is not a crime subject to direct indictment under the HCID Act.
