Kim In-cheol Followed by Han Deok-su... Democratic Party: "Already Judged Out by the People... Top Disqualification Candidate"
"Personnel Disaster Even Before Regime Launch"
Yoon Ho-jung to a Candidate: "No Need for Parliamentary Approval... Must Resign Immediately"
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] The Democratic Party of Korea expressed a negative stance on June 4 regarding the confirmation of Prime Minister nominee Han Deok-su. The party plans to decide on Han's confirmation after observing the ministerial nominee hearings, but there is growing likelihood that the decision may not be made until the president's inauguration. Regarding the voluntary resignation of Kim In-cheol, Deputy Prime Minister for Social Affairs and Minister of Education nominee, the Democratic Party launched an offensive, stating that "President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol's cabinet, composed of personnel riddled with allegations of illegal preferential treatment and corruption, is a result of his own doing," and held Han, who recommended Kim, responsible as well.

He directly targeted Han, stating, "Han is the top candidate for disqualification based on the allegations already raised."
Chairman Yoon criticized, "The arrogant attitude shown during the hearing was completely unbecoming. Although he vehemently denied, saying 'I did not live that way,' the mountain of allegations including revolving-door corruption, real estate issues, and his wife's involvement prove otherwise." He added, "Han has already been judged by the public to be unfit. There is no need to proceed to parliamentary confirmation. Han should immediately resign voluntarily."
Floor Leader Park Hong-geun also emphasized that negative public opinion toward Han is high and that they must reflect the will of the people. On CBS Radio that day, Park questioned, "Looking at the polls, isn't there a large negative public opinion from nearly half of the citizens?" and said, "With more than half of the public opposing, can we as the opposition simply abandon our responsibilities and say everything is fine?"
The Democratic Party has placed not only Han but also Jeong Ho-young, nominee for Minister of Health and Welfare, and Han Dong-hoon, nominee for Minister of Justice, on the list of potential failures, so the partisan conflict is expected to continue through the upcoming hearings next week.

She urged, "Please do your best so that resignation and investigation proceed under the same standards that the People Power Party applied to former Minister of Justice Cho Kuk."
