LG HelloVision announced on the 3rd that it has signed a 'Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for Media Talent Development' with the Busan International Kids and Youth Film Festival. Marking the 100th anniversary of Children's Day, the goal is to nurture young media talents by broadcasting works by children and adolescents participating in the festival on local channels and providing scholarships.
Through this agreement, viewers can watch the festival entries on LG HelloVision's Busan regional channel. A total of 18 films, including the highly praised 'Tajjang,' 'The 91st Voice,' 'Hypocrites,' and 'Fallen Leaves,' will be edited into a five-part series and aired once a week throughout May. The broadcasts will start at 9:20 AM on May 5, Children's Day, and continue every Saturday at 12:30 PM.
Lee Sung-wook, director of 'Tajjang' and a student in the Department of Film Arts at Sejong University, said, "It is a moving experience that a film I made as a high school student in 2020 can still meet audiences today." He added, "Especially, having the film introduced through cable TV is a great opportunity to promote student short films."
This year, the festival will also introduce the 'LG HelloVision Award.' At the 17th Busan International Kids and Youth Film Festival opening in July, the new 'LG HelloVision Award' will be presented to outstanding works. Scholarship funds will also be awarded to support the development of the media industry.
