Completion of Gurye-type Intrinsic Disaster Standard Linked Greenhouse Development

[Gurye=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yuk Miseok] On the 2nd, Jeollanam-do Gurye-gun announced that after two years of research and demonstration, it has developed and registered with the Rural Development Administration three types of disaster-resistant linked greenhouses tailored for facility vegetables (Gurye Type 1 to 3), considering the local climate and crop conditions and enabling the introduction of advanced smart farms.

More than 90% of Gurye-gun's linked houses for facility vegetable cultivation are non-standard disaster-resistant facilities, making them vulnerable to natural disasters such as heavy snow or typhoons. They have also been excluded from disaster recovery support and comprehensive agricultural fund support projects, leading to a continuous decrease in the cultivation area of high-income facility vegetables such as cucumbers.

The newly developed and registered Gurye-type disaster-resistant standard greenhouses are designed considering the crop load of vertically hung crops such as cucumbers and zucchini inside. They are safe against disasters with wind speeds of 26 m/s and snow depth of 24 cm, and through the introduction of advanced smart farm technology, precise control of the cultivation environment is possible.

The county plans to establish the Gurye-3 type disaster-resistant greenhouse within the demonstration field currently in operation for smart farm research, and to actively promote the on-site dissemination of smart farm environment control technologies for the production of high-quality facility vegetables such as cucumbers.

Park Geun-gyu, director of the Gurye-gun Agricultural Technology Center, said, “The development and dissemination of new technologies are the core of rural guidance projects. The newly developed Gurye-type disaster-resistant standard greenhouse will be the foundation for the stable production of high-income facility vegetables in Gurye-gun.”
