[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] Kim Dae-jung, a preliminary candidate for Jeonnam Superintendent of Education, announced on the 2nd that he would "promote the abolition of the Teacher Competency Development Evaluation and the Differential Performance Pay System."
Candidate Kim Dae-jung stated, "Excessive tasks such as preparing educational activity introduction materials for the Teacher Competency Development Evaluation, writing self-evaluation reports, preparing open classes, and drafting competency development plans are interfering with educational activities," and added, "I will promote the abolition of the Teacher Competency Development Evaluation, which is not trusted by students, parents, and staff alike."
He continued, "The current education field is anticipating rapid changes such as the implementation of the high school credit system and future education," and argued, "To improve the quality and satisfaction of education, strengthening teacher professionalism training is rather urgent."
Furthermore, he stated, "I will promote the abolition of the superficial Teacher Competency Development Evaluation and strive to establish a systematic teacher training system to lay the foundation for future education."
