[Profile] Kang In-seon, Presidential Spokesperson and 'International Expert' with 30 Years of Journalism Experience

Kang In-seon (58), who has been selected as the first presidential spokesperson of the Yoon Suk-yeol administration, is a journalist with over 30 years of experience. She is classified as an "internationalist" with a broad domestic and international network.
Jang Je-won, Chief of Staff to the President-elect, explained on the 1st when announcing the presidential office appointments that Kang is "a person with various strengths such as a broad perspective and international sensibility gained through extensive practical experience both domestically and abroad, as well as a wide domestic and international human network."
Kang is originally from Seoul and graduated from Seoul Girls' High School and the Department of Diplomacy at Seoul National University. She earned a master's degree in diplomacy from the same graduate school and a master's degree in public administration from the Harvard Kennedy School in the United States.
She joined the Chosun Ilbo in 1990 and worked as a reporter for Monthly Chosun, a political reporter, editorial writer, Washington bureau chief, and editor in charge of foreign affairs and security. From 2001, she worked as a Washington correspondent for five years and served as a war correspondent during the Iraq War.
She has received the Choi Eun-hee Female Journalist Award, the Choi Byung-woo Journalist Memorial International Reporting Award, and the "Don Oberdorfer Journalist Award" presented by the U.S. Embassy in Korea to journalists who contributed to enhancing understanding of Korea-U.S. relations.
Kang currently serves as the foreign press spokesperson for President-elect Yoon at the Presidential Transition Committee. She has been actively involved, including being part of the "Korea-U.S. Policy Consultation Delegation" recently dispatched by Yoon to the United States.
Chief of Staff Jang said, "Kang will serve as a communication channel between the Yoon Suk-yeol administration, the media, and the public," adding, "We expect her to demonstrate her capabilities as a communication window and messenger for the Yoon administration that listens to the voice of the people and moves forward together with them."
