'Elon Musk's close friend' Jack Dorsey, did he encourage the Twitter acquisition... Twitter founder but also has a bitter history of being ousted
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Se-eun] Jack Dorsey, the founder of Twitter, reportedly encouraged Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, to acquire Twitter, according to the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) on the 29th (local time).
WSJ reported that Dorsey advised Musk that Twitter's board was too autocratic and suggested that after acquiring Twitter, he should convert it into a private company. Furthermore, it was explained that the two agreed that Twitter should pursue 'public interest' rather than private gain.
Dorsey, who founded Twitter in 2006, clashed with the board and was ousted from the CEO position within two years by the board.
He returned as CEO in 2015 and served until November 2021, when he handed over the CEO position to Parag Agrawal and left Twitter.
Dorsey is known to be close friends with Musk.
Their relationship dates back to 2020. When the famous figure Musk began actively using Twitter in 2020, Dorsey expressed his gratitude to Musk. Since then, they have frequently communicated through Twitter.
When Musk's acquisition of Twitter was confirmed, Dorsey strongly supported it, calling Musk 'the only solution I can trust.'
