On the night of the 28th, Ahn appeared on KBS Radio's 'Joo Jin-woo Live' and said, "Former President Park Geun-hye, who committed state corruption, was sentenced to nearly 20 years in prison, but because she said she was ill and her health had deteriorated, she was pardoned," requesting a pardon for former Professor Jeong.
Ahn said, "The sentence is too excessive. I don't think she deserves to serve four years in prison," adding, "Above all, I heard from Professor Cho that Professor Jeong's health was already poor and has recently worsened." He continued, "As a friend, whether I get criticized or not, this should be viewed from a humanitarian perspective. That is why I made the proposal, and I hope the pardon will be granted."
Earlier, on the 24th, Ahn also requested a pardon for former Professor Jeong. Through his Facebook, he mentioned the religious community's request for a pardon, saying, "Father Song Gi-in, a mentor to the President, and the religious community have come forward to petition for Professor Jeong's pardon. I would like to cautiously add a word," urging, "President Moon! Please pardon Professor Jeong. This is not a political or legal appeal. It is a humanitarian plea to pardon Professor Jeong, who is very ill. Please exercise the presidential authority guaranteed by the Constitution before your term ends."

Meanwhile, the Blue House is deliberating on the pardon requests from various sectors. A Blue House official told Yonhap News on the 28th, "Although the power of pardon is the President's inherent authority, pardoning in a 'let's clear everything out' manner just because it is the end of the term is not possible," adding, "The key is whether it will help national unity, not the individual."
