Jeonnam Fire Department, 119 Ambulance Team Conducts Comprehensive Hospital Pathogen Survey for 'Safety'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Jeonnam Fire Department received a notification that all its ambulance vehicles are 'safe' following a comprehensive survey of pathogenic bacteria.
The Jeonnam Fire Headquarters announced on the 28th that it recently conducted tests for four types of pathogenic bacteria on 138 119 ambulances through a specialized company, and all collected samples were diagnosed as 'safe' from infection.
The comprehensive survey of 119 ambulances is conducted to identify contamination status in ambulances transporting patients with various diseases and to maintain a safe emergency treatment environment, thereby preventing secondary infections not only for emergency patients but also for paramedics.
The test items included four types of pathogenic bacteria that cause high fever, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain [Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), Vancomycin-resistant Enterococci (VRE), Streptococcus pneumoniae, Bacillus cereus]. Samples were collected from five areas frequently used in ambulances, such as the driver's seat and main stretcher.
A Jeonnam Fire Department official said, "We are very relieved that no pathogenic bacteria were detected in all 138 ambulances," and promised, "We will establish a systematic infection control system to ensure the provision of safe 119 ambulance services."
