[Asia Economy Reporter Park Sun-mi] Samsung Electronics has clarified that the rumor about skipping the development of D-RAM 1b 12nm process, which is currently being developed in the semiconductor division, is not true and that the development is progressing stably.
On the 28th, during the conference call following the first-quarter earnings announcement, Samsung Electronics denied the rumor that it had skipped the development of D-RAM 1b (5th generation) and changed its plan to develop 1c (6th generation), stating, "This is not true."

The company explained, "There is no disruption to the existing 1b 12nm mass production schedule. The claim that we are skipping 1b mass production and moving directly to 1c is not true. We are proceeding as planned." However, it added, "Some plan changes may occur during the process of pioneering new technology," and further noted, "As the difficulty of the D-RAM process increases, it is possible to face challenges and some plan changes while introducing new technology as a leading company."
