"Excited to Experience Professional Equipment Firsthand!"... Dongmyeong University Department of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Conducts Speech and Hearing Career Exploration Program

The Department of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology at Dongmyung University presented a hands-on career experience opportunity using specialized equipment set up on campus on the 26th.
The program included ▲exploring the career of a speech therapist ▲exploring the career of an audiologist ▲soundproof booth experience and pure tone audiometry, otoscopy ▲speech sound evaluation using CSL voice analysis equipment and a ‘vocal cord massage for a healthy voice’ experience ▲pronunciation test ▲vocabulary assessment, and a tour of the speech therapy room.
Six full-time professors from the Department of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology at Dongmyung University formed teams with 12 third-year students to conduct the experience missions.
The Department of Speech-Language Pathology said, “We made efforts to organize the program in a well-structured way to make the experience both fun and professional.”
Dongmyung University has been running the ‘Dongmyung Speech and Hearing Career Experience Program’ annually for several years to provide career exploration opportunities to middle and high school students in the region.
Daecheon Middle School students said, “It was great to come to the university, attend classes directly, and get hands-on experience with specialized equipment.”
Lee Sung-min, head of the Department of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology, said, “Speech rehabilitation therapists and audiologists are not well known to the public, but they are promising rehabilitation professionals for the future. We hope that the experience program will introduce new careers and provide students with a broader spectrum to choose their future dreams.”
The Department of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology at Dongmyung University will continue to offer various speech, language, and hearing assessments hands-on experiences to middle and high school students in the region through the ‘Dongmyung Speech and Hearing Career Experience Program.’
The department aims to provide practical career exploration opportunities through the program and raise awareness and interest in those who have communication difficulties due to speech, language, or hearing loss.

In September, about 100 students from Gwang-an Middle School and in December, about 200 students from Hanbada Middle School are scheduled to visit. The ‘Dongmyung Speech and Hearing Career Experience Program’ can be applied for through the Ministry of Education’s ‘Kkumgil’ platform.
