Grill Center to Start Early Construction, Bongdong Center Promised as New Facility in Dunsan-ri
[Wanju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] Lee Don-seung, a preliminary candidate for Wanju County Governor, pledged on the 26th to secure the golden time directly linked to protecting residents' lives and property rights by expanding the 119 Safety Centers.
In a press release on the 26th, candidate Lee Don-seung stated, "To ensure rapid dispatch and rescue during various accidents, it is necessary to expand the 119 Safety Centers and local units," adding, "The core of the county administration's goal of 'Healthy Wanju' is guaranteeing a safe living environment."
Currently, Wanju County has four 119 Safety Centers and four 119 local units.
The 119 Safety Centers are located in Bongdong, Samnye, Gosan, and Iseo (Innovation City). The Bongdong center covers Bongdong-eup, Yongjin-eup, and Bibong-myeon. Additionally, Samnye and Iseo centers are responsible for Samnye-eup and Iseo-myeon, while Gosan covers Gosan-myeon, Gyeongcheon-myeon, and Dongsang-myeon.
Furthermore, the 119 local units are in Soyang, Unju, Hwasan, and Sanggwan, with the Sanggwan local unit also covering Guui-myeon.
Among these, the Bongdong 119 Safety Center was incorporated into the Wanju Fire Station after its opening in January 2019, and its address is officially listed as Samnye-eup.
Moreover, its jurisdiction is extensive, covering not only Bongdong-eup, which has a dense concentration of businesses and population, but also Yongjin-eup and Bibong-myeon, leading to ongoing calls for establishing a new safety center to secure the golden time.
In response, candidate Lee Don-seung declared his intention to promote the installation of the Bongdong 119 Safety Center on the site of the Jeollabuk-do Fire Aviation Unit, which is soon relocating to Jangsu County.
He also promised to put full effort into the establishment of the Guui 119 Safety Center, scheduled to be newly built by the end of next year.
The Guui 119 Safety Center, with a budget of 2.7 billion KRW, had its establishment plan rejected by the provincial council in February this year due to inappropriate site selection.
Additionally, candidate Lee pledged to devote efforts to continuously expanding 119 Safety Centers, including maximum cooperation for the completion of the new Sanggwan 119 local unit building, scheduled for July.
