Transition Team Unveils Blueprint for Yoon Administration's 'Digital 1 Million Talent' Development Program
The Presidential Transition Committee announced a blueprint to cultivate 'one million digital talents' who will lead future society in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution. The committee explained that the new government plans to focus on reviewing and promoting specific measures such as establishing and expanding advanced departments and reforming elementary and secondary education curricula.
On the 26th, the committee held a related briefing at the Transition Committee press conference hall in Tongui-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, stating that to achieve the goal of nurturing one million digital talents, they will expand majors by establishing and increasing advanced departments such as Software (SW) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in universities and graduate schools.
They plan to increase education programs within universities that are friendly to industry and corporate sites and to identify outstanding talents early through specialized high schools such as gifted high schools and Meister high schools.
Additionally, they will introduce a 'Digital Badge' system. The digital badge is a system that certifies various digital education and experiences conducted both inside and outside of schools.
The committee plans to accumulate and manage digital education and learning histories through this system and utilize the results for employment and other purposes. The government and companies will jointly form a 'Digital Talent Alliance' to connect and expand institutions that use digital badges.
Alongside this, digital education will be made mandatory in elementary and middle schools. The curriculum will be revised to include digital literacy education such as SW and AI, and an appropriate number of information subject teachers will be supplied for this purpose. AI education courses will be newly established in education colleges and teacher training colleges to significantly support teachers in enhancing their capabilities.
