On the 26th, the Chuncheon District Court Criminal Division 1 (Presiding Judge Jin Won-du) announced that it sentenced Mr. A (62), who was indicted on charges including special assault on a family member, to 1 year and 2 months in prison.
Mr. A was indicted for assault after throwing a stone about the size of two fists at the back of his mother-in-law, Ms. B (88), in front of her house in Hongcheon-gun in the early morning of last June. Intoxicated, Mr. A became angry when Ms. B turned her back and left during their conversation, and he cursed "Die" while picking up and throwing the stone.
A witness, Mr. C (58), who saw this, said, "He is throwing stones," which angered Mr. A, who then punched Mr. C on the chin and chest, causing injuries that required about six weeks of treatment.

The court stated, "Considering the defendant's history of multiple fines for violent crimes and the fact that the mother-in-law does not wish to press charges against the defendant, the sentence was determined comprehensively."
