Tata Daewoo Commercial Vehicles Sold 7,400 Units Last Year... 87.8% Increase YoY
Compact truck 'The Ssen' drives sales volume
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Tata Daewoo Commercial Vehicle announced on the 26th that it recorded sales of a total of 7,400 units from April last year to March this year based on its fiscal year, achieving an 87.8% growth compared to the previous year.
Despite the difficult circumstances last year due to the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic and the shortage of vehicle semiconductors, the sales increase is attributed to expectations of economic recovery, increased demand for logistics trucks due to the rise in online delivery volumes, and the new car effect of the mid-sized truck "The Ssenn" launched at the end of 2020.
From April last year to March this year, Tata Daewoo Commercial Vehicle sold a total of 7,400 commercial vehicle models. By vehicle class, ▲large trucks 2,700 units ▲medium trucks 2,253 units ▲mid-sized trucks 2,447 units were sold. This is an 87.8% surge in sales compared to 3,942 units during the same period in 2020. By vehicle class, sales increased by ▲24.8% for large trucks ▲46.5% for medium trucks ▲915.4% for mid-sized trucks.
The sharp increase in sales last year was driven by the mid-sized truck "The Ssenn." As the first mid-sized truck introduced by Tata Daewoo Commercial Vehicle, "The Ssenn" is evaluated to have better power compared to similar specifications and a longer cargo bed length, making it efficient for logistics loading and transportation. This is analyzed to have significantly influenced the choice of mid-sized truck consumers, especially in the logistics market. Additionally, the first-ever introduction of the "8-speed automatic transmission" played a key role in enhancing driving convenience and efficiency, leading to high sales volume.
This year, Tata Daewoo Commercial Vehicle's sales performance is expected to accelerate further with the addition of the newly launched large truck "Macssenn" and medium truck "Gussenn" introduced in January. "Macssenn" and "Gussenn" are equipped with proven European engines, boasting top-level driving performance in their respective classes. They were launched at a level equivalent to "Euro 6 Step-E," which is a further strengthened version of the "Euro 6 Step-D engine," itself an enhanced standard compared to the "Euro 6 Step-C engine," in accordance with emission regulations. Additionally, they feature the connected car service "SsennLink" and various advanced driving safety assistance systems, ensuring driving stability.
