Gwangju Gwangsan-gu Facilities Corporation Conducts 'Earth Day Campaign'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The Gwangsan-gu Facilities Management Corporation Happy Naru Senior Welfare Center in Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 25th that it conducted an environmental protection campaign targeting citizens commuting to work in celebration of 'Earth Day.'
About 80 senior citizens from the welfare center participated in this campaign, which aimed to raise awareness about the severe climate crisis and environmental pollution issues, and to have senior citizens take the lead as role models in actively participating in environmental protection activities.
The campaign was carried out alongside 'plogging' (a combination of jogging and picking up litter) from 8 a.m., when citizens commute to work, around the Songjeong and Dosan-dong areas. The placards used in the campaign were also recycled placards made by senior citizens at the welfare center using discarded cardboard boxes.
A senior citizen who participated in the environmental protection campaign said, "As a senior citizen, I will strive to ensure that our junior citizens can breathe in better conditions and environment."
