Gwangju City Creates Dog Playground at Surang Park
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Gwangju Metropolitan City is creating a dog playground in a damaged area within Surang Park in Sochon-dong, Gwangsan-gu, reflecting the increasing trend of pet dog ownership.
According to Gwangju City on the 24th, the dog playground will be built on approximately 1,100㎡ and designed as a space where dog owners can unleash their dogs and let them run freely.
In particular, the dog playground will be equipped with play facilities that dogs can find interesting, a dog drinking fountain, waste bag dispensers, and CCTV.
Additionally, to prevent safety accidents, safety fences will be installed along the boundaries, the entrance will have double doors, and separate areas will be designated for small and large dogs.
Furthermore, a separate isolation space will be created for dogs that exhibit aggressive or violent behavior, allowing visitors and other dogs to play safely and comfortably.
Other convenience facilities such as restrooms, pergolas, and benches will also be installed for the convenience of visitors.
The dog playground within Surang Park will be managed by permanent staff from the Life Agriculture Division of Gwangsan-gu, and programs such as education for dogs and owners and dog festivals will be developed and operated.
Meanwhile, Gwangju City plans to create not only the dog playground in Surang Park but also a multipurpose water playground that can be used for water play in summer and as a playground at other times, a complex cultural center for leisure and cultural activities, and to renovate existing hiking trails into walking paths.
