According to Seoul City and other local governments on the 23rd, from midnight to 6 p.m. on that day, 55,015 people across 17 cities and provinces nationwide were confirmed positive for COVID-19. This is 5,467 fewer than the 60,482 cases reported during the same time frame the previous day.
Compared to the count at the same time one week ago on the 16th (78,047 cases), it is 23,032 fewer, and compared to two weeks ago on the 9th (132,014 cases), it is 75,199 fewer. Since there is still time until midnight when the count is finalized, the number of new confirmed cases to be announced on the 24th is expected to be higher than this.
As of 6 p.m. on that day, new confirmed cases were 24,404 (44.4%) in the metropolitan area and 30,611 (55.6%) in non-metropolitan areas.
