View original image[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Se-eun] Former National Assembly member Kim Jin-tae, confirmed as the People Power Party candidate for Governor of Gangwon Province, stated, "I will rebuild the lost 12 years and revive the crisis-stricken Gangwon Province."
Kim held a press conference today at the People Power Party Gangwon Provincial Office, expressing his enthusiasm for a complete regime change.
He emphasized, "A regime change must occur in Gangwon Province for the Yoon Suk-yeol administration to achieve a true regime change," adding, "I will now rebuild the lost 12 years and the crisis-stricken Gangwon Province."
Regarding his victory in the primary, he expressed gratitude to the residents of Gangwon Province, saying, "I thank the people of Gangwon," and shared his thoughts with the phrase 'Mosa Jaein Seongsa Jecheon (謀事在人 成事在天, planning depends on people, but success depends on heaven)."
He continued, "There were many difficulties until I received the nomination," and "The only reason I could survive was thanks to the people of Gangwon, so I will repay them through the development of Gangwon Province."
Kim experienced various hardships, including being excluded from the party nomination despite leading in public opinion polls after losing in the general election and challenging for the Gangwon governorship, even staging a hunger strike before rejoining the primary.
Earlier, starting with the primary debate on the 20th, Kim secured a total vote share of 58.29% in the party primary, which combined 50% party member and elector votes and 50% public opinion polls, defeating former KBS anchor Hwang Sang-mu, who received 45.88%, and was ultimately selected as the final candidate.
