Incheon City Expands Mandatory Installation of Eco-Friendly Vehicle Parking Spaces and Charging Facilities for Apartments with Over 100 Households
The number of designated parking spaces is 2 to 5% of the total parking capacity
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Incheon City is expanding the scope of entities required to install dedicated parking spaces and charging facilities for eco-friendly vehicles.
The city announced that the amendment to the "Ordinance on the Promotion of Environmentally Friendly Vehicle Distribution and Utilization in Incheon," which includes these provisions, will take effect from the 21st.
The amended ordinance mainly covers ▲the targets for installing dedicated parking spaces and charging facilities ▲installation standards for dedicated parking spaces ▲the number of charging facilities to be installed ▲and the mandatory installation quantity standards for rapid charging facilities.
Accordingly, the mandatory installation targets for dedicated parking spaces and charging facilities for eco-friendly vehicles such as electric and hydrogen cars will be expanded from apartment complexes with 500 or more households to those with 100 or more households.
Additionally, public buildings, public-use facilities, and public parking lots, which previously were required to install dedicated parking spaces and charging facilities for eco-friendly vehicles only if they had 100 or more parking spaces, will now include facilities with 50 or more parking spaces as mandatory installation targets.
The number of dedicated parking spaces and charging facilities to be installed has been increased to 5% of the total parking spaces for new facilities and 2% for existing facilities. For new facilities, 5% of the charging facilities must be installed as rapid charging stations.
Existing facilities must install charging facilities amounting to 2% of the total parking spaces within one year for public buildings, three years for apartments, and two years for other facilities, starting from January 28 of this year, the enforcement date of the Eco-friendly Vehicle Act.
Furthermore, at public parking lots with good accessibility for citizens, at least 20% of the charging facilities must be installed as rapid charging stations.
