Gwangju Seo-gu Holds Various Events to Commemorate Disability Day
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, will hold various events on the 20th to commemorate the 42nd 'Day of Persons with Disabilities.'
Seo-gu announced on the same day that it received and delivered wheelchairs for severely disabled junior individuals, invited disabled artists to hold an art exhibition, and conducted disability awareness education for employees.
On this day, two wheelchairs worth 2.5 million KRW sponsored by IvySoft Co., Ltd. (CEO Yoo Young-bae) were delivered to two severely disabled residents with mobility difficulties, adding significance to the event.
In the spirit of coexistence, awards were also given to companies that employ the largest number of disabled people in Seo-gu, serving as social role models, and to citizens who have devoted themselves to promoting welfare for persons with disabilities, aiming to create a world without discrimination beyond prejudice against disabilities.
Additionally, the disabled artists' painting exhibition will be held in the first-floor lobby of Seo-gu Office until the 26th, coinciding with Disability Week, and Seo-gu plans to purchase some of the artworks to support them.
At the Apple Tree Cafe located in the first-floor lobby of Seo-gu Office, various beverages were discounted during lunchtime to commemorate the Day of Persons with Disabilities.
A Seo-gu official said, "This year's Disability Week focused on the slogan 'Beyond Prejudice Against Disabilities, Towards a World Without Discrimination,' aiming to foster understanding and empathy for disabilities and to encourage non-disabled people to view disabilities from a correct perspective."
