On the 18th (local time), according to British media Daily Mail and others, a missile fell next to a Ukrainian woman carrying luggage while walking on the street in Kharkiv, northeastern Ukraine.
In the video capturing the scene, the woman was walking holding what looked like shopping baskets full in both hands. Two civilians were passing by on the opposite side.
Then, near a roadside trash bin, a missile exploded, sending black smoke billowing. The woman was startled by the explosion and crouched down, looking around while squatting on the ground before standing up again and walking away somewhere. The two civilians passing near the trash bin also barely survived the explosion and quickly fled.
The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense shared the video on Twitter, saying, "No one in Ukraine could have imagined such a thing just two months ago," and "But now, this has become everyday life for many Ukrainian citizens."
Netizens who saw this reacted with comments such as "Glad the woman survived," "Hope the war ends soon so everyone can have peaceful daily lives," and "Praying that no civilians get hurt."
Meanwhile, Russia launched a large-scale offensive in eastern Ukraine's Donbas region on the same day. According to the U.S. Institute for the Study of War (ISW), on the first day of the Donbas battle, Russian forces concentrated their offensive on Popasna and Rubizhne in Luhansk, and Marinka in Donetsk.
