View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Juhyung] Broadcaster Kim Eo-jun strongly criticized the allegations of 'special treatment in child transfer admissions' against Health and Welfare Minister nominee Jeong Ho-young and the admission corruption allegations involving former Minister of Justice Cho Kuk's daughter, saying, "President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol should no longer speak of justice and fairness using Cho Kuk."
On the 18th, Kim appeared on his TBS radio show "Kim Eo-jun's News Factory" and said, "President-elect Yoon said regarding the controversy over nominee Jeong, 'There is no confirmed illegal act, is there?' and the transition team spokesperson said, 'This is different from the Cho Kuk incident.'"
Kim explained the controversies surrounding former Minister Cho and nominee Jeong, saying, "(The controversy over former Minister Cho) involved the father attending or not attending a university seminar and the mother receiving a volunteer award at the university, and he was indicted on the day of the ministerial hearing," adding, "On the other hand, (nominee Jeong) had a colleague professor give perfect interview scores to his children, and the medical certificate changing his son's military service to social service was issued by a hospital where he is the director."
He continued, "Despite this, (President-elect Yoon) will absolutely not conduct a search and seizure on nominee Jeong," and claimed, "The search and seizure on Cho Kuk was carried out because of prosecutorial reform and possibly because he might become a strong contender in the next election."
Kim criticized, "President-elect Yoon packaged this as fairness, won the presidency with it, and the subordinate who carried it out became the nominee for Minister of Justice," adding, "Be satisfied with that and refrain from speaking about justice and fairness directly in the future."
Earlier, nominee Jeong held a press conference on the 17th and explained the allegations point by point, stating, "There was no improper conduct whatsoever."
On the same day, he emphasized, "The transfer procedure proceeded with multiple transparent checks and balances," and "It is a fair structure where requests or favors are impossible."
Meanwhile, Bae Hyun-jin, spokesperson for President-elect Yoon, said at a briefing at the Seoul Presidential Transition Committee office that day, "The nominee voluntarily held a press conference to clarify the allegations, so we are watching closely," but added, "However, President-elect Yoon said, 'There should be clear facts of wrongdoing.'"
