Kim Eun-hye pledges to establish public postpartum care centers... "Will reduce childbirth and childcare burdens"
24-Hour Children's Hospital Pledge Followed by Targeting 'Working Mom' Votes
"Not an Unconditional 'Basic Series' but Strong Support for Vulnerable Groups"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Hyun-ji] Kim Eun-hye, a candidate for the People Power Party's Gyeonggi Province governor primary, pledged on the 17th to establish public postpartum care centers in the Gyeonggi region. She launched a campaign targeting "working moms" with a series of childbirth and childcare policies, including the establishment of a "24-hour children's hospital."
On the same day, Kim explained the purpose of her public postpartum care center pledge through Facebook, saying, "The burden of childbirth and childcare is not only a concern for women but for the entire family," and added, "Various support from the state and local governments is necessary to alleviate the burden of childbirth and childcare on families." She pointed out, "Currently, there is a public postpartum care center in Yeoju, and one is scheduled to be established soon in Pocheon, but it is saturated to the point of a reservation war," and asserted, "We will establish various public postpartum care centers, focusing on rural-urban complex areas where private postpartum care centers are insufficient."

She also announced plans for differentiated support primarily targeting vulnerable groups. Kim stated, "We will enable residents in the blind spots of postpartum care services to enjoy greater convenience at a lower cost," adding, "Compared to private postpartum care centers that cost 3 to 4 million KRW for two weeks, we will provide support at about 1.68 million KRW, which is 50-70% lower, and offer a 50% discount (840,000 KRW) to single mothers and other mothers in difficult circumstances." She further emphasized differentiation from former Gyeonggi Governor Lee Jae-myung by saying, "We will provide substantial support focusing on those who truly need help, rather than an unconditional 'basic series.'"
