The nominee's confirmation hearing preparation team informed the reporters covering the Ministry of Health and Welfare on the afternoon of the 16th that Jeong's press conference will be held at the National Medical Center in Jung-gu, Seoul. They also stated that the conference will not be to announce his resignation but to directly explain the allegations and controversies raised since his nomination.
Jeong is expected to read a press statement and answer questions for about 40 minutes during the conference.
Jeong, who previously served as the director of Kyungpook National University Hospital, is under suspicion of using "dad's chance" as his child transferred to Kyungpook National University College of Medicine. Issues regarding his overseas business trips and his son's military physical examination controversy have also surfaced.
