30s Given Probation for Driving Imported Motorcycle with 'Prohibited' Plate Attached
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Nayeon] A man in his 30s who deceived the local government to obtain license plates for an imported motorcycle banned for use in South Korea has been sentenced to a suspended prison term.
On the 16th, the Ulsan District Court Criminal Division 2 announced that it sentenced Mr. A, who was tried on charges including unauthorized use of a license plate, to 4 months in prison with a 1-year suspension.
Mr. A was indicted for attaching a two-wheeled vehicle license plate to an imported motorcycle banned from operation in the country due to engine problems in April of last year.
He also reported to an administrative welfare center in Ulsan that he would be driving another motorcycle permitted for domestic registration in order to obtain the license plate.

The court stated, "Although the nature of the crime is not good, we took into consideration that the license plate was discarded and the motorcycle was also disposed of."
