Environmental Monitoring Solved by 'Drone'... Daegu City Conducts 3D Monitoring of Dams and Water Intake Sources
Ministry of Land Chooses 'K-Drone System' Demonstration Project, Provides 75 Million KRW in National Funding
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yeo Jong-gu] Daegu City will utilize drones to conduct three-dimensional environmental monitoring around the main water intake sources, Gangjeongbo and Gongsanji areas.
This year, the city was finally selected for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's 'Drone Traffic Management System (K-Drone System)' demonstration project and will receive 75 million KRW in national funding.
Through this project, Korea Water Resources Corporation and the drone company Sky Enterprises will jointly use drones to manage the water cycle, water quality, and dam operations.
Additionally, for three-dimensional monitoring activities around Gangjeongbo and Gongsanji areas, a relay system connecting the field and office via drones will be established, and regular patrol flights will enable real-time monitoring.
During the summer season, the plan is to identify any inflow of pollutants, monitor illegal activities in the water source protection zones, and proactively respond to the recurring annual occurrence of algal blooms.
