One Month Before Enforcement of the 'Conflict of Interest Prevention Act'... Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission and National Pension Service Join Hands for 'Integrity and Ethical Management'
Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission to Introduce K-Compliance Program Within the Year... Detailed Manual to Be Distributed Soon
[Asia Economy Sejong=Reporter Son Seon-hee] With the enforcement date of the Public Officials Conflict of Interest Prevention Act approaching in about a month, the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission (ACRC) and the National Pension Service (NPS) have agreed to actively cooperate on policies to promote a culture of integrity and ethical management.
According to the ACRC on the 15th, Ahn Hyun-hee, Chairperson of the ACRC, and Kim Yong-jin, Director of the NPS, signed a memorandum of understanding on this matter at the NPS Seoul Southern Regional Headquarters in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, that morning.
The two organizations plan to mutually cooperate in introducing the Integrity and Ethical Management Compliance Program (K-CP), establishing and spreading a culture of integrity and ethical management, and preventing, detecting, and improving corruption risk factors that hinder ethical management. K-CP refers to a series of systems and activities designed to minimize corruption risks that may arise during management activities, comply with anti-corruption laws, and foster a culture of integrity and ethical management.
In particular, they will proactively revise systems to ensure the stable establishment of the "Conflict of Interest Prevention Act," which will be enforced from the 19th of next month. The two organizations plan to actively cooperate in ▲establishing a whistleblower protection system for integrity and ethical management ▲education, communication, and promotion to establish a culture of integrity and ethical management.
The ACRC is promoting the introduction of K-CP this year to strengthen global corruption risk capabilities in public enterprises and others. To prepare related systems, it comprehensively reviewed anti-corruption laws of international organizations and major countries such as the United States and France, and reflected opinions from various sectors through public forums, meetings, and pilot operations. Based on this, K-CP is being developed focusing on creating an environment for integrity and ethical management, managing corruption risks, and sanctions and incentives related to corruption.
The ACRC plans to distribute a detailed K-CP manual within this year to support public institutions and companies in voluntarily practicing integrity and ethical management.
Chairperson Ahn said, "To achieve a national integrity ranking within the top 20 this year, enhancing transparency in management is essential," and added, "I ask for the support and cooperation of the National Pension Service so that a transparent and ethical management culture can be established through the practice of integrity and ethical management by public enterprises and companies."
