'Lack of Promotion Means' Lawyers Say "Platforms Are Gateways to Clients... Expect Activation" [Legal Service Platform Daejeon]
Legal platforms like Law&Company's 'Lotok' and the Korean Bar Association's 'Naui Byeonhosa'
Breaking away from word-of-mouth and expensive portal advertising... easier personal website management
Lawyers "Expect diverse use of legal tech"
"As a young lawyer with nothing to boast about, I genuinely welcome the 'platform competition' itself." (Lawyer A, 31, 9th Bar Exam)
Legal service platforms are useful tools not only for clients but also for lawyers. Originally, due to a lack of personal promotional means, case acquisition relied on word of mouth or expensive portal advertisements, but LegalTech is providing new opportunities. Some lawyers use multiple platforms such as Law&Company's 'LawTalk' and the Korean Bar Association's 'My Lawyer.'
Lawyer A, who has three years of experience, recently started using 'My Lawyer.' After gaining experience at a law firm, he opened a private legal office last year but had an absolute lack of promotional means. He said, "Usually, I acquired cases through acquaintances and word of mouth. Large portal ads charged fees every time keywords were added, and competition was fierce even with advertising. I stopped after a week due to the cost burden." He also added, "I ran a blog and posted twice a week myself, and even entrusted a professional company, but there was no significant effect."
Lawyer B (36, 8th Bar Exam), who uses 'LawTalk,' also said, "As a small-scale lawyer, the utilization of the 'LawTalk' platform was significant." He added, "I spend some promotional costs, but the effect on case acquisition is definite." He also mentioned, "Although disciplinary discussions by the Bar Association are burdensome, I cannot give up using 'LawTalk' for my livelihood."
Managing personal homepages within the platform is also convenient. Lawyer A said, "'My Lawyer' provides a standardized and neat framework, so each lawyer just needs to fill in the desired content." He added, "When introducing oneself, sending this profile address allows sharing both the career and the cases handled."
Lawyer B said, "Since I run a legal office alone without staff such as office managers, the 'reservation' function of 'LawTalk' is very useful for scheduling." He also shared, "I am utilizing various functions provided by the platform, such as video posting and legal knowledge postings."

Lawyers agreed that it would be good if LegalTech could be utilized more diversely through competition among platforms. Lawyer A stated, "I hope positive competition among platforms will be activated regardless of interests." Lawyer C (33, 7th Bar Exam), who works in a provincial area, also said, "I recently registered my name on the platform and uploaded my information. The functions are not yet diverse, but if users increase and functions become active, I will make full use of them."
