Gyeongnam Province Surpasses 1,000 Cumulative COVID-19 Deaths... Changwon Records Highest Number of Confirmed Cases
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] The cumulative number of deaths after COVID-19 infections in Gyeongsangnam-do has surpassed the 1,000 mark.
On the 14th at midnight, Gyeongnam Province announced that there were 8,764 new COVID-19 cases reported on the 13th within the province, and the cumulative death toll reached 1,017.
Of these, 8,763 were local infections and 1 was an overseas entrant. Cases were reported across all regions, with Changwon having the highest number.
By city and county, the numbers are as follows: Changwon 3,183 (Changwon 1,492, Masan 1,100, Jinhae 591), Gimhae 1,355, Jinju 818, Yangsan 767, Geoje 714, Sacheon 331, Miryang 270, Geochang 197, Changnyeong 178, Tongyeong 164, Haman 121, Sancheong 120, Hamyang 117, Hadong 115, Namhae 108, Goseong 99, Hapcheon 56, and Uiryeong 51.
According to the province, the number of confirmed cases in April is 156,251, bringing the total cumulative confirmed cases to 957,752.
The number of patients currently hospitalized is 1,145, those under home treatment number 72,454, and those discharged total 883,136. The death toll increased by 25, bringing the cumulative deaths to 1,017.
The additional deaths include 12 males and 13 females, with 1 in their 50s, 7 in their 70s, 11 in their 80s, and 6 in their 90s.
By region, deaths were confirmed as follows: 7 each in Changwon and Jinju, 2 each in Gimhae and Hamyang, and 1 each in Geoje, Tongyeong, Yangsan, Miryang, Goseong, Changnyeong, and Hapcheon.

As of midnight on the 14th, the bed occupancy rate in medical institutions and residential treatment centers in the province is 47.3%, with 2,293 beds available, 1,085 in use, and 1,208 remaining. Officials explained that there are 33 critically ill patients, accounting for 0.04% of those currently receiving treatment.
