Korea GM to Hire 260 Subcontracted Workers as Full-Time Employees
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dae-yeol] Korea GM announced on the 14th that it will directly hire in-house production subcontracted employees. The hiring scale is 260 people selected from manufacturing processes within the Bupyeong and Changwon plants. The company had previously offered employment to the targeted individuals as of the 1st of next month.
The company's labor union's upper organization, the Metal Workers' Union, and the management formed a special consultative body to discuss detailed hiring conditions for subcontracted employees. At the end of last month, they decided not to renew contracts with subcontracting companies to which the targeted production subcontracted employees belonged, in order to promote their direct hiring as regular employees.
