[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] On the 13th, the Blue House announced that it would consider a formal meeting request from Prosecutor General Kim Oh-soo to President Moon Jae-in regarding the Democratic Party's push for the 'Complete Removal of Prosecutorial Investigation Functions' (Geomsu Wanbak) bill.
A Blue House official said regarding Kim's statement about the 'meeting request' that "no request has been received yet," adding, "The request will likely come through the Minister of Justice, and if it does, we will consider it."
On the same day, Kim held a press conference at the Supreme Prosecutors' Office in Seocho-gu, criticizing the Geomsu Wanbak bill and stating, "I formally requested a meeting with the President today."
If the meeting takes place, Kim is expected to request the exercise of a veto against the Geomsu Wanbak bill.

Kim said, "In 2021, during the Ministry of Justice's work report, the President urged that the implementation of the changed criminal justice structure should be thorough so that the public does not feel inconvenienced, and that the nation's crime response capabilities should not decline due to the new criminal procedure," questioning, "Is the attempt to abolish the prosecution's investigative functions in line with such a request?"
