View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyemin] Kim Incheol, the nominee for the first Deputy Prime Minister for Social Affairs and Minister of Education under the Yoon Seok-yeol administration, stated on the 13th, "It is appropriate to continuously expand the regular admission system at universities going forward."
Kim made this remark during a Q&A session held at the transition committee office in Tongui-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul.
When asked about his stance on autonomous private high schools (jasago), he said, "I understand that the current government has made efforts to reduce or abolish them," adding, "I think efforts should be made to maintain or sustain their functions."
Kim stated that upon assuming office as Minister of Education, his first priorities would be restoring trust and addressing concerns about the disappearance of regional universities. He emphasized, "Efforts must be made to further enhance the trust of parents, current students, professors, teachers, and staff," and added, "Improving the national competitiveness of our country, including elementary, middle, high schools, and universities, and maintaining balanced regional development are the most important tasks in the education sector."
