KCTU Submits Injunction Request Against Seoul City's 'Assembly Ban' Order
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] The Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) filed a request for a suspension of enforcement with the court, asking to suspend the effect of Seoul City's decision to prohibit their rally on the 13th.
According to civic groups on the 12th, the KCTU submitted a request for suspension of enforcement to the Seoul Administrative Court the previous day, seeking to suspend the effect of Seoul City's order banning a rally of 299 people at the Jeokseon-dong rotary near the Presidential Transition Committee office in Tongui-dong, Jongno-gu.
In their suspension request, they stated, "We have been conducting the rally in compliance with quarantine rules to prevent the spread of COVID-19 (wearing masks, temperature checks, use of hand sanitizer, preparation of participant lists, etc.), and the rally on the 13th is also scheduled to proceed while adhering to these quarantine rules." They added, "The number of participants is also planned to be 299, which is within the limit allowed by the Seoul City notice."
