On the 12th, Gyeonggi Province announced that it will invest a total of 432 million KRW this year to implement the "Customized Odor Reduction Policy Support Project for Livestock Farms," the first of its kind among metropolitan local governments nationwide.
Experts will be dispatched to livestock farms or livestock manure fertilizer factories in the province where numerous odor complaints have occurred, conducting thorough field investigations and proposing improvement measures.
In particular, based on the results of expert consulting, customized guidance on odor improvement practices and facility improvement plans will be provided to the respective farms and fertilizer factories.
Additionally, the implementation status will be checked to analyze changes in odor reduction and provide follow-up support, making every effort to resolve livestock odor issues.
Including the consulting support project, the province will invest a total of 35 billion KRW this year to promote nine support projects such as improving the livestock environment and installing odor reduction facilities in livestock barns.
Meanwhile, odor complaints related to livestock in the Gyeonggi area sharply increased from 1,729 cases at the end of 2018 to 3,017 cases at the end of 2020.
