Dinner with 9 Senior Lawmakers in Jongno
Discussion on Cabinet and Local Election Nominations
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jun-yi] President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol held a dinner meeting with senior members of the People Power Party on the 5th. This is interpreted as an effort to strengthen party control through successive 'meal politics' ahead of the upcoming local elections in June and the formation of the cabinet.
It was confirmed that President-elect Yoon held a dinner meeting with nine senior members of the People Power Party at a restaurant in Jongno-gu, Seoul, on the same day.
With the next government set to launch in about a month, communication regarding the formation of the next cabinet and the nomination rights for the local elections is expected to take place during this meeting.
Earlier that morning, Kim Eun-hye, spokesperson for the president-elect, told reporters, "I have never seen a time when the president-elect's lunch and dinner schedules were empty," adding, "But recently, it seems that communication with the party's lawmakers has been strengthened."
