Gyeonggi-do Launches 'Autonomous Pig Farming Project' with 2.8 Billion Won Investment
Promotion of 11 Detailed Projects... Improving Breeding Environment and Enhancing Productivity
[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-chul] To support the pig farming industry facing difficulties due to the spread of COVID-19 and African Swine Fever (ASF), Gyeonggi Province has decided to promote autonomous-type projects for pig farms this year.
According to the province on the 5th, at the request of producer organizations, new projects such as feed bin management devices, injection syringes for seasoning, and heat-reflective paint will be newly organized and promoted.
In addition, each city and county will adjust and promote detailed projects according to local conditions based on actual farm demand, changing to an 'autonomous project method.'
Choi Young-gil, chairman of the Gyeonggi Province Council of the Korea Pork Producers Association, said, "Changing to an autonomous project is very desirable, and production farms will take the lead in producing high-quality livestock products."
To this end, a total of over 2.8 billion won will be invested this year to focus on 11 detailed projects including ▲piglet incubators ▲piglet nursing devices ▲urethane insulation facilities ▲fog sprayers ▲shipping sorters ▲odor reduction devices ▲cooling and heating devices ▲groundwater purification facilities ▲feed bin management devices ▲injection syringes for seasoning ▲heat-reflective paint.
To reduce stress in reared pigs and increase productivity, plans include expanding urethane insulation facilities, heat-reflective paint, injection syringes for seasoning, and cooling and heating facilities.
To reduce mortality rates of young pigs, equipment such as piglet incubators and piglet nursing devices will be installed.
